![]() Most of us receive our DMV registration renewal with a bullet point stating that our vehicle needs a smog inspection certificate. Why do we need to pass this inspection and what does it do??? Well, in the State of California, the Smog Inspection program is part of the State's effort to improve the air we breathe. These inspections are designed to identify vehicles that have excess emissions according to the standard posted by the State of California. If your vehicle is performing with excess emissions, it will fail the smog inspection and need to be repaired before a re-test. Most vehicles six years or older in California will need a smog inspection every two years. Unless your vehicle is labeled as a high polluting vehicle, then it will need to pass a smog inspection every year. So what happens during this inspection? Here's the break down: Our licensed technician will attach measuring equipment to your vehicle and perform the following inspections:
California requires the smog inspection stations (Us!) to perform the test in the order listed. Vehicles newer than 2000 are exempt from the emissions test. Instead they will undergo the visual and functional inspection for OBD II trouble codes and readiness monitors. If you are in need of a smog inspection, look no further, we can help!!! Our licensed technicians will perform the test and make repairs if necessary. Give us a call today 619-562-3933

It was interesting when you pointed out that smog inspections are designed to determine vehicles that have excess emissions based on the standard posted by the state. My brother is pursuing a career as a smog check inspector. I think it's best for him to undergo a smog update training to enhance his knowledge and skill about the job.

Smog checks are regulated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), whose goal is to protect public health and the environment from the dangerous effects of air pollution.

Thank you for explaining that emissions tests are done on cars made in '99 and older. I was wondering if my daughter's car would need to get an emissions test. It was made in '95, so it's good to know what to expect when we get it tested.

It's great that you elaborated that one of the smog inspection processes is the visual inspection of your emission equipment to ensure proper function. My cousin informed me a few nights ago that he planned about fixing his car tag title registration to ensure ownership of his new Toyota Supra. He asked if I had thoughts on the best option for an efficient process. I'm thankful for this instructive article, I'll tell him it will be much better if he consults a trusted tags title registration as they can provide details about the process.

A smog inspection is a process to measure the emissions produced by a vehicle's engine to ensure it meets the state's air quality standards. The inspection checks for pollutants such as carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, and nitrogen oxide. In some states, a smog inspection is required by law to register or sell a vehicle, and failing the inspection may require repairs to the vehicle to reduce emissions. A smog inspection is an important step in maintaining a vehicle's performance and reducing its impact on the environment.
